Good, but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a universal remote because I was stuck using 4 separate remotes for the TV, Sound Bar, BluRay and Apple TV. The Apple TV remote was also dying and needed to be replaced one way or the other. The reviews for this product stated that it worked for Apple TV and that was good enough for me. The set up was easy enough, but when it came to programming it to work the Apple TV, I couldn't get it to work. Tried all of the different methods, and none of them worked. I don't know if it's only able to work with the newer versions of Apple TV, maybe that's the problem, but I was disappointed to find that the primary reason that I purchased the remote was basically a waste of time. I still like being able to control the other 3 devices with one remote, and I even used the last of the 4 slots to operate the Xbox One, which allowed me to watch Netflix/Hulu until I forked over another 20 bucks for a replacement Apple TV remote. Good purchase overall, but if you have the old version of Apple TV, just be aware that it may not work (it didn't for me...).

Simple, Well-Built Universal Remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my fiancé moved in with me, we somehow lost the remotes for her Vizio TV and Apple TV, which we planned to put in our bedroom. After searching high and low for them without success, I drove over to my local Best Buy to pick up a universal remote. This Insignia Universal Remote stood out to me because of its simplicity, low cost, and compatibility with streaming devices. I picked it up on sale for $19.99, and it has worked flawlessly. Programming the remote to work with our Vizio TV and Apple TV took about 5 minutes. Build quality and ergonomics are great; it fits nicely in your hand and has a solid feel. Range and accuracy are great. I do wish the remote was backlit to aid with use in the dark, but it's not a deal breaker by any means. (Note to Insignia: add a backlight in your next version.) Overall, I would recommend this remote to anyone looking for a cost effective, simple yet functional universal remote.

Great Replacement Remote!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote on sale, so it was an excellent value. I got it primarily to control an older Yamaha Sound Projector (soundbar) that I was afraid the volume buttons were beginning to wear out. Easy to program and works great. My only negative is that you are limited to the functions of the "generic" Yamaha audio controls. In other words, I can not select different sound modes (theater, club, etc.) or select different inputs to the soundbar. In addition to my TV, I have a music streaming box that I play through the soundbar. I can't change the input source for the soundbar with the remote. I have to use my Yamaha remote for that. That's OK, since I don't do that too often. But it would have been nice to have that ability. If it could do that, or was a learning remote where you could program any individual button, this would easily be a five star remote. As it is, it is almost one, but not quite. It definitely has a quality build and feel. All in all, I'm very happy with this remote.

Excellent for a cheap remote, except...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surprised no one has pointed this out but the instructions for this remote are incorrect. At least if you want to use the programmed features of this programmable remote. If you want to use Setup Method B (which most people probably do), the manual is written wrong and does not work. To address this, reverse the order of Step 2 and Step 3. Then it will program properly and works exactly as advertised. Pretty bad that the instructions are flat-out incorrect though. This remote is useless if you follow the instructions it comes with.

Universal Remote with some reservations
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of these on a flash deal at a greatly reduced price, since it was a little annoying having to switch remotes in the living room and bedroom. I did finally get both remotes working how I want them, but it took time, patience, and experimentation. I may not have a typical setup. My TVs are a few years old, not "smart", and I mute both of them and listen to sound through a stereo receiver in the living room, and a soundbar in the bedroom. Since the TVs are not "smart", I do not have any streaming devices. Luckily, all my devices are ones in the "top 10" brands in the little tables in the device documentation, so assigning the buttons was pretty straightforward. Otherwise, you have to go through a "learning" routine that may be time-consuming. Also, if you have a setup similar to mine, you have to realize that there is NOT a button for AUDIO (e.g. receiver or soundbar), BUT there is an AUDIO OPTION in the programming. At first that was very puzzling, until I finally realized that you can "dummy assign" the audio device to ANY button. The extremely basic documentation that comes with the remote does not make that option clear at all, you have to kind of figure it out. So I decided to assign the audio controls to the DVD button, since when I watch a Blu-Ray I tend to use the Blu-Ray device remote anyway. Then, for my setup, I want to power down the TV and STB separately every night, so I don't get "ghost" audio playing through the stereo or soundbar. This remote makes that very difficult to do because it comes with a default setting that "ties" the TV and STB controls together. You can disable it, but I found that in practice it is very hard to break. For both rooms, I had to assign and reassign buttons multiple times in different orders several times until it would magically function how I wanted. Unfortunately I cannot tell you exactly how I did it, you will just have to experiment. Or, if you listen to sound on your TV and have a smart TV with a streaming device, maybe none of these issues will apply to you. Another little hitch is terminology if you still have cable instead of streaming. On Frontier remotes, the button to access your recorded programming is just called "DVR". On this remote, the "LIST" button fulfills that function. The "30 second skip ahead" button on Frontier is the "-->" button on the remote. These really aren't that hard to figure out, but again, there is absolutely no help in the documentation. Because of the difficulties I had with setup, I could not recommend these remotes at regular price, but if you can catch them on sale and you have a typical setup and "name brand" equipment, it is definitely worth it to be able to use one remote.

Q: QuestionWill this remote work with my TV, Lg webOS uf6450? If so does it allow me to access the smart features such at netflix, YouTube, etc.? Thanks!
Asked by Jaylp42.
- A:Answer No, it does not work within the apps. It only works the television functions. I use the YouTube TV, Prime Video, and Netflix apps, but this remote does not function with them. I have been searching for a universal remote that is compatible with the LG smart TV and the apps, but have been unable to find one. This one was the best in terms of working the TV functions (way better than the remote that comes with the TV), but is useless within the apps.

- A:Answer This remote control is not lit. I didn't realize that it did not light up until I got it home and started programming it. It is an excellent remote control, easy to program, but I would prefer it backlit.
