5.0 out of 5 starsGreat and minimal gaming mouse, but not a 1:1 Sensei optical clone.
Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2017
I'll give it 5/5, but only because it did deliver what it promised. I wish they had a few more features on it.

Pros:

The sensor is great. Assumed that going in. Tracks perfectly fine.
Easy to click mouse wheel. This is not the case in Logitech mice.
Sleek design with RGB to match my other RGB (trigger warning. JK too late, get triggered)
Rubber top/plastic side for textures. My favorite combo.
Plenty of DPI selections and good palcement.
Scroll wheel feels great. A+
Mouse skates seem to be good. No issues apparent.
Lightweight.
Great software. However, I find it hard to keep the RGB breathing enabled... Not sure how to fix that since installing the software.

Cons:

No side buttons on the right. I realize this is purely personal. However, it's an ambi mouse that can't be used like an ambi mouse and i really will miss pg up/down on my mouse.
M1/M2 and side buttons are very loud and tactile (think mx blue switches).
The rubber coating is a bit slippery. It does provide grip tho, so it doesn't ruin the mouse. IIRC, the G403 was horrible at this.
Rubber cable. While most people actually want this, I prefer not to. My mouse will always feel fragile. While not a problem for a $30 mouse, it still looms.

Overall, it's the closest to the Sensei so far and I will replace the Sensei for a bit. I just wish the rubber was more grippy like my Fnatic Sensei and that it had 2 extra side buttons on the right. The Fnatic Sensei to me is still just on another level of comfort and usability. I'll be taking my Sensei to work and giving the Revel a long term try at home I'm hopes SteelSeries release a real follow up. The Revel is just simply a great value mouse and what should have been the Rival 100.

3.0 out of 5 starsGood performance, decent mouse.

There's a lot that's not perfect about the revel, but not much I didn't already expect having followed its production and viewing feedback on it for some time. If you know what you're buying has X problem, you shouldn't dock it for having X problem.

What I didn't know is that the side buttons aren't just bad.. they are BAD. And even if you get a Revel that doesn't have QC issues with the left and right mouse buttons, the left and right mouse buttons will still always feel a bit inconsistent because of the way the mouse shell is designed supposedly.

If you're like me, when you first get this mouse you'll start laughing because it feels so cheap that it's legitimately funny; but make no mistake, it has killer performance with the 3360, a very low input delay, a shape many love, and a price point that I wouldn't say is a "good deal", but is simply very appropriate when you consider its shortcomings.

If you liked your glossy finish mice in the past, the glossy coat on this one is very nice as well. You'll just have to clean it pretty regularly because even the cleanest person leaves a surprising amount of gunk on these things.

Edit: Middle mouse button is double or even triple clicking. No excuse for that, knocked down two stars.

Edit 2: Nixeus responded to my review offering "help with any further issues", but considering I have failing hardware there's not any help I could use aside from a replacement. I noticed they seem to respond to everyone with a negative review, and if they infer by your review date that your warranty is up, they don't offer you a replacement in their response. Well that rubbed me the wrong way because I felt it was just virtue signalling to reply to these people they weren't going to help.. so I emailed them and asked if a replacement was what they were implying they could do for me since that's the only thing they could actually help me with, and what do you know, they offered me one even though my warranty was over years ago. I didn't follow up and have it done because the sensei shape doesn't agree with me anyway, but I was very glad to see that they have some nice folks over there. Bumped my review up a star for that.

4.0 out of 5 stars REVEL my go to mouse for e-sports
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2017

This mouse is great and is a good replacement for a Wheel Mouse Optical, Intellimouse Optical 1.1a, Sensei/Kana/Kinzu. Their customer service is also very fast and they are helpful. I contacted Nixeus and they told me that Amazon has both old and new batches. So if people are experiencing build quality problems they probably got unlucky and Amazon gave them one of the older batches.

This mouse has a good shape and has a nice sensor. The clicks feel great and the scroll wheel is nice, but it rattles a little. Not a huge problem to me, but the scroll is louder than my G203. The side buttons also have a short travel and are very light to click. I like that the side buttons are further back. Nixeus also has a firmware updater and they are working on software to customize the mouse. I like that the shape of the mouse is more rounded and smooth unlike the DM1 Pro S or the Sensei. The curve on the Sensei/DM1 is more rigid and sharp. The Revel also feels slightly less bulky and not as wide. It is the closes you will get to a replacement for one of the older Ambidextrous Microsoft Mice.

I got unlucky and got one of the older batches and Nixeus support told me that they have used different switches for the middle mouse wheel in their newest batch. The MMB on mine was not very tactile, but more a more mushy feeling, and the click was very quiet. My friend who has a REVEL had their middle mouse more tactile and a louder click. I am sending mine back to Nixeus instead of Amazon so that I can make sure to get one from the newest batch.

If you have problems with your REVEL, their customer support will gladly help you fast and easy.

Overall I love this mouse and it is the perfect shape.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent mouse, with a few trip-ups.
Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2018
Color: Matte WhiteVerified Purchase
If you're here, it's because you scouted out many different mice through reviewers like Rocket Jump Ninja and JoshTechBytes on YouTube, read through overclock.net or /r/MouseReview threads, or just peeked into Amazon's mouse market and stumbled on this. This is an excellent mouse - but there are a few details to be aware of that can make or break your decision to purchase this or another competitive mouse.

The PMW3360 is pretty much the best sensor on the market at the time of writing. The implementation is great. Lift off distance is low, and I can't find any issue with how the sensor is, especially after updating the firmware. There are preset DPI steps that may be changed with software in increments of 100. Both firmware and software are available on Nixeus's website and are optional, since this mouse is meant to work out of the box.

I have 18.7 x 10.4 cm hands. The shape, balance, and weight is a HUGE step up from the Deathadder 3G I had played on for 8 years. The slope is very gradual, and the sides give my 1-2-2 grip a lot of space and a slight ledge to assist in picking up without any slipping. I can palm or claw it, but the hump doesn't really fill out the palm fully - it makes contact and provides support, but it is not a full feeling. I am totally fine with this, but others may prefer a full fill, or a lower profile (see: Zowie ZA/Ninox Venator, or FK for the respective hump profiles). My preferred grip style is now fingertip, surprisingly. The mouse is lightweight and precise enough for it, and the shape allows for that sort of versatility.

The clicks and buttons are very tactile and tight. No issues on my matte white copy. The cord is light and flexible.

The scroll wheel is tactile and bumpy, which may take getting used to. There is different tension between the scroll up and down. I personally prefer smoother scrolling, so this irritated me a little. It's workable, but I hope that Nixeus considers a different approach to scroll wheels in the future.

I'm not a mouse enthusiast, and I wasn't expecting my socks to be blown off by this mouse - but it is a very solid choice, and conveniently less pricey than other solid choices.

Other mice to consider include the Steelseries Sensei, Ninox Venator, Zowie ZA/FK series, and maybe the Logitech G Pro/102/203. Those all have ambidextrous form factors, but different pros and cons to them.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this mouse, and have no issue using this as a replacement for my Deathadder.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best budget gaming mice on the market
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2018
Color: Rubberized BlackVerified Purchase
Out of the box, this is one of the best budget gaming mice I've ever used, and I've collected quite a few. The mouse is a clone somewhat of the original Sensei so it's a very safe ambidextrous shape that will accommodate most grip styles. I play with a palm/claw grip (20 cm x 10.5 cm) and this mouse works great for me. It is a bit low on the top hump compared to my current daily driver, the Logitech G403, but at half the cost this would be my go to option if I couldn't afford the G403.

The mouse is extremely light at only 84g, which is a huge bonus in competitive gaming. The fact that you can also operate this mouse without having to download any software was also a great plus in my book as all of the DPI settings can be accessed on the mouse itself. It cycles through different colors for the DPI settings, which are found in the tiny user manual that comes in the box in very small print. Also, this mouse probably has the best feeling standard mouse feet I've ever used, and mine came with replacement feet as well. It really does glide across any mousepad I use, whether its the QcK+, Nixeus Type-R, or even the Roccat Taito. On the G403 I had to replace the mouse feet for aftermarket products because they were pretty bad. So another plus for the Revel there.

My only gripe so far is that the mouse cable, although nice and thin and not braided, is still quite stiff for a rubber cable. It may have to do with the way that they package it. Points here to Logitech who never tie their cables tightly but instead wrap them around the edges of the box and thus allow them to straighten out more naturally. On the Revel, I've tried to straighten the cable out but it's very stubborn. That being said, I am glad they did not go with a braided mouse cable though because those add weight and can be even more stiff if they are tied up in the same way withing the package. Even on my G403 I replaced by braided cable with a paracord cable.

All in all, a great budget mouse with a safe, familiar shape, extreme lightness, and a really smooth glide. This may very well become your favorite mouse and it deserves it.

2.0 out of 5 stars started having problem after only two weeks of use....

So lets start with the good: This mouse is very comfortable, one of the most comfortable mouse I've ever used. the censor is top notch. left and right clicks feel great.
HOWEVER, after only used it for 2 weeks. the mouse's middle wheel started to make a weird and irritating noise when I tried to scroll down. This noise is the kind of noise that a lot of people can't stand; it sounds like dry and old gears rub against each other; a very high pitched noise. I got goosebumps every time hear it. very frustrating. Should have been a 5 star product based on the first 2 weeks, but it started to have problems within such a short period of time makes it only a 1-2 stars product, very unfortunate.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite mouse ever! Simple, super lightweight, comfortable
Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2018

UPDATE - Aug 2020

Just wanted to mention that after over 2.5 years, it's still working fine, but more importantly, it's stood above a handful of other mice I have tried along the way (from top brands).

Original review:

Everything about the mouse itself is amazing. I like how it is kept simple without any dumb "gaming" gimmicks. The buttons feel nice, the scroll wheel is smooth and easy enough to click, the side buttons can come in handy if you decide to use them (and they are easy to get used to), if not, they don't really become bothersome. It's just 30-something bucks but I definitely don't feel like they cheeped out on the material, there is definitely quality and care put into it while still keeping it as affordable as it is. It's lightweight enough so that you will kinda forget that your holding it, especially when you are immersed in a game. Speaking of games, yes this mouse is really good for gaming and unless you are a heavy MMORPG player, this mouse should cover mostly all your needs. Oh yes, and last but not least, the sensor on this is superb! It's super precise and I haven't encountered any problems with it. Oh and yes, there is software for personalizing DPI.

The only con is the wire, which quite short and stiff, if it was braided that would've been neat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Review of Nixeus Revel along with 4 other mice
Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2018
Color: Rubberized BlackVerified Purchase
My DeathAdder 3G had been acting up on me for the past couple years and despite my attempts as resuscitating it (tried using compressed air on click switches as well as doing a 'scotch tape trick' on scroll wheel), the unit finally stopped working. My problems with this mouse at the end of its life were that 1) a click would sometimes register an additional click - making me accidentally open files when I wanted to just select them. This made dragging files around really frustating. 2) The scroll wheel would also randomly insert an upward scroll movement in the middle of a down scroll - which would make viewing webpages and documents a chore.

My requirements for a new replacement were that 1) I wanted a mouse with good switches (preferably Omron) to avoid the double click problem. 2) A scroll wheel that would smoothly scroll and was of solid construction to not end up w/ the same scroll problem. 3) A mouse that could entirely turn off its LED lights as I have my desktop in my bedroom and prefer to have no external lights.

I ended up trying several off of YT Rocket Ninja's Top 10 Mouse list. Although I do not game very much anymore, I figured a mouse that could survive the rigors of heavy gaming would be of higher quality than other office mice and would thus last longer and provide better feedback. Here are my thoughts on various mice that I tried and the Logitech G Pro which I finally ended up getting. (I tried each mouse for about a month to give me time to form a proper opinion.)

Redragon M801 Mammoth - This mouse was the first candidate that I tried based off of Amazon's recommendation list. It had a really nicely textured mouse surface and the clicks were really crisp (Omron switches). The mouse was of a comfortable size for my hand and the cord was a nice braided one. It really was a quality piece and the price was by far the cheapest out of any of these other mice ($28). The software was also really light compared to the Razer Synapse software which seemed to want to update every 2 days. My main problem with this mouse was that you could only turn off the LED lighting to the wheel and dpi switches, and not the giant slash and side trim pieces. I did however find a YouTube tutorial that showed how you could unscrew the assembly through the weight compartment to pull the internal connector to disable the lights but did not want to go with the hassle). For people that don't care about the LED lights and/or on a budget, I would actually give this a 4* recommendation.

Logitech G403 Prodigy - The next mouse I tried was the G403 after discovering Rocket Ninja's YouTube page. This was his #1 selected mouse so it was a good next choice. I learned that having the distinctly separate mouse buttons from the chassis aided in the longevity of the click buttons (The DeathAdder 3G had the buttons integrated in the overall shell of the body). Unfortunately, I found the mouse wheel to be much looser than my original DeathAdder as well as the Red Dragon and decided to return this mouse and look for alternatives. (3.5*)

Razer DeathAdder Elite - I went with the DeathAdder Elite after my experience with the G403. Being a more expensive version of the original DeathAdder and also scoring high on the Rocket Ninja list, I thought that being done with this process and getting the updated version might be my final answer. The mouse was almost identical to the DeathAdder I had before with better mouse texture and lighter clicks. Unfortunately, it just felt like the old DeathAdder I had in nicer packaging. I strongly believe that in a few years, I would have ended up with the same problems as much current DeathAdder mouse. I also felt that it did not warrant the more expensive price point of $67. For a $40 mouse, it would be okay. For a $67 mouse, it felt cheap. And with mixed reviews and Razer's reputation of having products which do not last, I also ended up returning this. (3*)

Nixeus Revel - Next was the fairly inexpensive Nixeus Revel. It was the first software-less gaming mouse that I tried and it had several really high points and one serious low point. I found the product to be fairly sturdy, the buttons and mouse wheel were really good. This mouse was the first one thus far to not have an LED built into the wheel assembly itself and I felt this added to the build quality of the assembly (solid block of plastic vs hollowed out wheel w/ a light). The downsides: If you left the mouse alone and let the screensaver turn on, the mouse would also "fall asleep". Clicks would not be responsive, and the scrolling would automatically switch to the lowest DPI setting. I found that if I switched DPIs, all these symptoms would be alleviated - but again, it was a really weird problem to have. Other reviewers noticed the same. Also, LED lights could not be turned off. (3*)

Logitech G Pro - Lastly, I arrived at this mouse. It had good build quality with the Omron switches and even came with a braided cord. It also had the separate buttons from main mouse body and a non lit mouse wheel. LEDs were also programmable to be completely turned off. I feel that this mouse really met all my mousing requirements and should definitely be on your short list as well. (5*)

I just like music
4.0 out of 5 stars Some minor QC concerns, but the mouse is light, tracks perfectly, and is barebones for serious gamers.
Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2017
Color: Rubberized BlackVerified Purchase
This mouse has become one of my favorites, but is not without it's flaws. I'll list a few pros and cons and what I think about it overall.

Pros:
1. The shape is both safe, and familiar. The design is based around the Steelseries Sensei. While being a bit smaller and a hair thinner, I find that people comfortable with the sensei will have little trouble transitioning to the mouse. The rubberized texture on top feels good, although a magnet for oil, and the plastic sides are fine. I don't know how it will hold up with the texture, but I have heard the customer service from Nixeus is great.
My hands are ~18.5x9.75cm and the mouse feels great in a relaxed claw grip. I think if you have hands under 19.5 the size won't be an issue, but any larger and palming might be awkward.

2. The 3360 sensor is fantastic. Pretty much a "flawless sensor," or as good as it gets for the past year and a half. The tracking is great, with no noticeable acceleration, and the latest firmware removed the smoothing. The software is barebones, but has all you need to adjust colors, dpi, and polling rate. The lift off distance is good, below 1 cd, but not as low as the logitech mice that have the tuning software to lower the LOD according to your mousepad. I have had no trouble with the lod being an issue.

3. Objective Pro, but the side buttons are further back than most mice, meaning that claw grippers like myself will have an easier time due to where we place our thumbs, however if you palm the mouse it will be a bit farther back than you are used to.

4. Weight, weight, weight. The mouse is SO light for its size that throwing it around is effortless. Some people may say that it feels "cheap" but that is a load of hogwash. Things do not have to be heavy to have quality. In fact having a needlessly heavy mouse is more a hindrance. This is definitely and enthusiast mouse for those that crave performance over flashy features and needless addons.
Cons:

1. The main buttons aren't fantastic, but they do the job. Coming from logitech mice, it will be a shock to not have that snappy responsiveness and perfect travel distance, but they aren't as bad as zowie mice in terms of clicks. The switches are still omron, but the stiff shell shape makes them a bit harder to press if you're used to something lighter. After a few days your fingers adjust, and I have had no issues with spam clicking in RTS games, but if you are sensitive to pressing "stiffer" buttons then this might just not work for you.

2. The cable is not wrapped nicely like in the newer logitech mice, and because of this the cable has many kinks that won't work themselves out. I'm not sure why because the cable seems thin enough, but at the same time just wants to keep its weird cable memory. Very odd, but using a bungee or similar products might help. You could also boil the cable, or lightly use a blowdryer to straighten it out. I think companies should start doing the wider wraps, there is simply no reason to ruin a cable like this in 2017.

3. I have heard QC can be hit or miss, and scroll wheels might develop double clicks or squeak, but my unit is fine so YMMV.

Overall I'm loving the mouse. The buttons may be a downgrade from my g pro, but I don't get hand cramps with this mouse and my aim seems to be better because of the slightly larger size and low weight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great all around mouse for small to average hands, with a kickass sensor.

Does everything it sets out to do, be a good to the point mouse. The responsiveness and tracking accuracy is definitely something you can feel especially if you're coming from a Steelseries Sensei, it definitely feels more like an extension of my hand in a virtual space then the laser did on the sensei. When playing CS-Source, and Titanfall 2 the improvement over laser was almost night and day. Making micro adjustments was effortless. In general use/MMO(by extension mobas) the mouse glided smoothly across the screen and while pixel perfect accuracy is not really required for those situations the responsiveness made the experience more comfortable.

The plastic shell on this mouse is very grippy, and feels nice on the skin of your hand. (For those of us that find rubberized mice to be more slippery, and bad for hands that stay dry) The size of the mouse is the same as the sensei, with a little less length resulting in a very slight but more comfortable grip. For those with short thumbs the side buttons are placed closer to the butt giving you more comfort when tapping them. If you have a fairly large hand then you might hand a difficult time pressing the closest side button.

The side buttons have a tactile bump and feel about average. Not the highest of quality feel but also not something that will get in the way of gameplay. Middle mouse button has a medium weighty feel to it, it feels fairly similar to the sensei's MMB. The scroll wheel is notched and offers enough resistance to prevent accidents from occurring, compared to the sensei there is less resistance which I am sure can be adjusted by plying the clamping force a bit tighter if you ever opened the mouse. The LMB has a nice feel to it, slightly more force is required then the sensei but nothing that has affected me. There is a tactile bump that lets you feel the action which is something I need when wearing headphones.(I find having no feedback to be terrible). RMB like most of the reviews have stated feels a bit weaker and the vibration of air inside of the mouse feels slightly stronger. while its something that you can get used to its something I definitely had trouble with when doing multiple camera changes in an MMO with loosing activation due to its different feeling.

TLDR: Great all around mouse for small to average hands, with a kickass sensor.

This review was done with the latest firmware which removes sleep mode on the mouse~ Problems associated with cloth pads and rubbing were also noted with my model, replacement mouse feet are on the way(free of charge).
