Details:Deals on Home Theater A/V Receivers
  • Yamaha RX-V377 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver for $190. It usually sells for at least $220.
If you already have living room speakers and need a basic Receiver to power them, without paying for a lot of features you don't need, this looks like a good choice. It won't steam audio channels and can not be controlled by the Yamaha app, but the reviewers love its sound quality and value.
  • Yamaha RX-V477 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver for $250. It usually sells for about $280.
It is a good quality Receiver for a living room. Has a wired Ethernet connection (to connect to your home router or switch), allowing AirPlay, Spotify, Pandora, and the Yamaha remote control app. Includes a 2-year warranty.
  • Onkyo TX-NR626 A/V Receiver for $300. Usually sells for about $360.
Onkyo has been making great quality Receivers for at least 20 years. We still have an 18 year-old Onkyo TX-DS575 that works as well as the day we bought it.
  • Yamaha RX-V577 7.2-Channel A/V Receiver for $326. It usually sells for about $400.
If you have a second speaker zone (kitchen, patio, etc) that you want to play the same audio as your living room, this "Zone B" receiver is the one you want. This Yamaha is actually one of the only Receivers on the market that has a "Zone B" feature, which copies the audio from your living room even from a digital source. However if you only want your second speaker zone to play music and radio (analog/stereo audio only), you can get a regular Receiver with a "Zone 2" feature, but beware it the second zone may not be able to play audio from your cable box and Blu-ray/DVD Player.

We have this receiver powering 5.1 speakers in a living room and 2 speakers on a patio. When we are watching sports, a movie, or playing music in the living room, the sound carries outside to the patio when "Zone B" is switched on. Using a phone or tablet connected to the home Wifi, the free Yamaha app can be used to turn on/off the patio speakers and adjust volume.
If you need inexpensive living room speakers, a Yamaha NS-SP1800BL speaker package is on sale for $133. The reviews are very positive.

If you need speaker wire, 100-feet of 16-Gauge Speaker Wire goes for $11. If you need in-wall or white speaker cable, Monoprice sells some of the best quality 16-gauge in-wall white speaker cable for about $15 to $20 per 100-feet.
