Details:Changhong 50" LED-backlit LCD 1080p HDTV for $400
(repost)

Changhong 50-inch LED-backlit LCD 1080p HDTV is back at $400. What we like about this deal is you get a good quality 50" 1080p TV with thin bezel not only at a good price, but will probably hold its value longer than most other TVs.

Cons about this TV:
  • No built-in apps. In our opinion though, these are features that most people will probably never use. Apps are useful for watching Netflix, Amazon videos, and Youtube, however you can simply add a $100 Roku 3 Streaming Media Player.
  • No 3D. 3D is neat but has not taken off. Most homes that have 3D televisions rarely use their TV for 3D viewing over a long period of time.
  • Sports fans may rate this 60Hz TV a little lower than a 120Hz or 240Hz TV, but ask those sports fans if the digitally enhanced motion quality is worth paying at least double.
  • The TV's thickness is 3.35 inches when mounted on a wall. Some more expensive TVs (such as a Samsung UN60F8000) are as thin as 1.4 inches and look so cool when mounted on the wall. The Changhong will stick out a little further off the wall.
Most people are happy with their purchase, and it costs about half of TVs you will find at Costco, Best Buy, and Amazon. We have one, and was the best deal we bought this year.

There are two ways to buy it, Some detailed specs are on the manufacturer's website. Newegg has an unboxing video.

Beware that the 5 free HDMI cables are very thin and offer little shielding. One of the cables worked fine behind a TV that had little other interference-producing wiring near it. All our other free cables failed to work for other TVs because of interference from nearby electrical wires. Free cables are nice, though we would put an estimated value of the cables at $3 apiece or less. One may work for you, but don't be surprised if you find yourself throwing away the other 4.

The stand looks really nice, or the 46-pound TV can be mounted on the wall. We used and highly recommend this flat/tilt bracket or this articulating arm bracket. Beware the TV's HDMI plugs are horizontal near the TV's side, so some thick cables that do not bend well could stick out of the side. To resolve that issue, you can try a HDMI Port Saver which can angle the HDMI port so the cable can be plugged in vertically instead of horizontally. We use this one with the Changhong TV, so the HDMI cable plugs down from the top.

Even though Changhong sells few TVs in this country, it does work with many universal remote controls, including Logitech Harmony and most universal remotes that come with a DVR.
