Details: | Google Chromecast and Apple TV Soon to be Banned From Amazon: Amazon will no longer carry the Apple TV and the Google Chromecast devices as of October 29. This is presumably because of competition, although Amazon says this ban is "in order to avoid customer confusion," according to Bloomberg. Amazon currently makes the Fire TV Stick, a streaming media player. It is in direct competition to Google's Chromecast and Apple's Apple TV. So if you are a regular shopper on Amazon and want to buy a streaming media player, you have just 3 weeks to get a Chromecast or an Apple TV before they disappear from Amazon.com. As big companies increase their penetration into serving streaming television, we may see more lines drawn. In related deal news, Google Chromecast is currently on sale at BestBuy.com for $28 (normally $35), which is about $12 less than the Fire TV Stick. Also, the most comprehensive of the popular streaming devices, the Roku 3 and the Roku Stick are still available on Amazon, at least for now. |
